Horrendous Heartburn
What you write off as a simple case of indigestion could be something a lot more.  Acid reflux could be the culprit.

It seems like pretty much every time your son eats he gets heartburn.  He gets that gross taste in the back of his mouth and his stomach is killing him.  You figure he might as well lie down and sleep it off but that only makes it worse.  It doesn't seem to matter what or when he eats either.  It's getting so bad that you're afraid to let him eat anymore because you don't want him to feel this way.  You thought it was just a little heartburn and you gave him some antacids, but those only help a little.  What are you supposed to do?

This is NOT his body's way of rejecting food.  It's something serious, though, but not as extreme.  Acid reflux could be his problem.  A muscle in his esophagus, that prevents the stomach acids from going back into his throat, isn't functioning quite right, and as a result he gets heartburn and indigestion.

There is no cure for acid reflux and it is a lifelong condition, but there are treatments that make it very easy to live with.  Some simple lifestyle changes along with some prescription or over-the-counter medications and he should be back on track in no time.  The occasional heartburn is normal, but he won't be suffering nearly as much as he is now.

Surgery is an option for those pesky acid reflux cases that just don't want to go away but it is an extreme option that requires a lot of consultation with a doctor before it is considered.  No matter how severe the case is, there's a treatment option out there that will work for any acid reflux and chances are your doctor can point you in the right direction.  Your son might not be able to eat all the fatty food and pizza he wants, but this might be a blessing in disguise for your overall health, even if he complains about missing it.  You know better.
