What is Temper?
We all feel angry sometimes.
People can get angry for all kinds of reasons. The basic (underlying) causes are usually some sort of threat that they see to themselves, something that makes them afraid, or a feeling of being let down or betrayed. People naturally respond heatedly, excitedly, and aggressively when they feel these things. Anger is a natural, normal emotion, as long as it is temporary, infrequent, and in proportion to its cause. It is when anger goes beyond these boundaries that it can become a serious problem, with serious consequences for yourself and other people around you. It is in these situations that anger is no longer a normal emotion, and becomes something that needs to be brought under control.
Quick Facts
The most effective way to control your temper is to take a step back from the situation. Do not reactive until you have calmed down.
