Symptoms of Conduct Disorder

The DSM-IV categorizes Conduct Disorder behaviors into 4 patterns: 1. Aggressive conduct that causes or threatens physical harm to other people or animals. 2. Non-aggressive conduct that causes property loss or damage. 3. Deceitfulness or theft. 4. Serious violation of rules.

Aggression toward people and animals Examples:
Bullies, threatens, or intimidates others
Initiates physical fights
Has used a weapon that could cause serious physical harm to others (e.g. a bat, brick, broken bottle, knife or gun)
Forces someone into sexual activity
Destruction of Property Examples:
Sets fires with the intention to cause damage
Deliberately destroys other's property
Deceitfulness, lying, or stealing Examples:
Breaking and entering into house or car
Lies to obtain goods or favors
Serious violations of rules Examples:
Disregards parental rules
Runs away from home
Often truant from school
