What’s My Age Again?
How are you supposed to know what you can do to show that you can act your age? You have never been the age you are before, so you don’t have much experience with it.

There are some basic rules that you should follow no matter what age you are, but what is so different with each year that passes by?  What kind of actions and behaviors define your age?

Probably more than once or twice in your life, some adult has told you to “ACT YOUR AGE!” Right? You might have heard: “GROW UP!” or “GET OVER IT!” or “STOP ACTING LIKE A CHILD!!!”

The teenage years are a difficult time for kids because you are not a child anymore, but you are still not considered an adult. There are many things that, by law, you’re not supposed to do…for example drink, vote, go to R rated movies if you are under the age of 17.

Everybody knows that there are many actions and attitudes that really ‘separate the men from the boys’ or, ‘separate the women from the girls’.

Experience is one of the most important differences between younger people and older ones. Simply by living longer, older people have had the opportunity to see more, hear more, speak more, read more, and learn more. And if they are smart adults (and you know that not all adults are smart) they’ve learned from their mistakes…the mistakes that people of all ages make.

If you are having serious difficulties dealing with your parents or other adults who treat you like a little kid in everyday or complicated situations, consider seeking the help of an outside professional.  Please talk to your parent or a trusted adult before taking this action.
