What are Chores?
The dictionary defines chores as “the regular or daily light work of a household” or “a difficult or disagreeable task.”  Despite their bad rep, chores are necessary to keep a house and family functioning.  Chores are also a good way to learn to manage your time, learn skills you will need to run your own household, and become a little more responsible in the process.

Are your chores connected to your allowance?  In some families, chores are rewarded with an allowance or other special incentive [something that motivates you to do an action].  Usually, though, there are extra chores that you get rewarded for with something like an allowance and everyday chores that you are just expected to keep up with.  Chores may differ from household to household but they are a responsibility that every single person has.

Not all chores are so bad.  Depending on what you like, some might even be fun.  There are many people who love cooking or like working out in a yard.  Others may actually enjoy folding laundry or dusting the house.  You never know, everyone’s tastes are different!

Here are some chores that need to be done regularly.  How many of these things do you help out with?  How many do you leave to your parents?  How many COULD you be helping with?
