How to Accomplish Your Summer Goals
To make the most of your summer you’ve got to have a plan! Think about what you want out of your summer. Then follow these tips on how to make your ideas become reality!

Getting a Job or Internship

When you apply for a job you have to stand out above other applicants. Do your best to make a good impression!

  • Follow up after you submit your application. Stop by the place you want to work, or make a call. Show your enthusiasm!
  • Practice for an interview! Get a friend or sibling to interview you and help you think about what questions you might be asked. Dress nicely the day of the interview. Afterwards, you can send a thank-you letter to your interviewer to make sure they keep you in mind when they make their decision.
  • If you get the job, be sure to arrive on time and ready to work everyday so that you keep it!

Going into Business for Yourself

  • Print out posters describing the service you offer (yard work, baby-sitting, house sitting, dog walking, garage organizing, gardening, etc.) Post your flyers up around your neighborhood or town. Don’t forget to include your name and phone number!
  • Keep track of your commitments and do the best job you can do! You’ll want the people who hire you to recommend you to their friends. The best way to get more customers is by word-of-mouth!

Organizing a Community Service or Neighborhood Event

  • Recruit helpers! Get your friends, family, and community involved. You’ll have a better event and have fun.
  • If you sponsor an event for charity or to help the community, make sure the participants know that their time/labor is going to a good cause!
