Ready, Set, Go!
Sports are an all-America pastime.  Baseball, football, soccer, basketball…there are just so many! With all the excitement, though, people forget what sports are really about: coordination, fitness, working as a team, and most importantly, fun. Maybe you're a seasonal varsity athlete or maybe you’re a person who prefers books to balls. Either way, it may be time to step back and take another look at the wide world of sports. Are you playing for the right reasons? Are you missing out on something else that you might enjoy? Is it no longer fun for you?

Your Game

What game do you play? Do you prefer team or individual sports? No one can be the best at every sport, but everyone can find something that they like doing.  You may have already found the sports you love to play, but it's never too late to try something new. And if you're the type that tends to get hit by balls instead of hitting the ball, don't worry! Training for cross country and other track events don't require you to have great eye-hand coordination. Badminton is an example of a sport that doesn't take a lot of strength to play and enjoy. Rock climbing, sailing, bowling, golf, fishing, diving…sometimes it's easy to forget just how many options are out there! Sometimes we only like to do stuff that we're good at, but that can be really limiting. After all, you can’t be good at something until you've practiced it awhile, or at least tried it.

Explore these topics to learn more about playing sports and improving your game. Get to know the psychology behind playing sports to gain an edge. Or find out about the quality that makes athletes truly worthy of being admired: good sportsmanship!
