It isn’t a tangible thing, so sometimes it can be difficult to define – but it certainly plays a huge role in how you define yourself as a person. If we wanted to give “self-esteem” a body, here’s an example. Eeyore from Winnie the Pooh would be a perfect example of low self-esteem. He thinks poorly of himself and believes that nobody wants to give him the time of day. A perfect personification, or creaturefication, of high-self esteem would be Yoda. He is confident in his abilities and does not let setbacks bring him down.
While self-esteem is a very personal thing, it is often times influenced by your friends, peers, family, and experiences. Generally speaking, the higher your self-esteem, the happier you are. If someone has really low self-esteem, they may feel as if they are worthless, friendless, and pathetic. If you find yourself feeling like this, or you have a friend who has low self-esteem, it is important to remember the things that you know you are good at.
