Look At Yourself Positively
Chances are your friends are going through the same thing you are, or they have in the past.  You're not the only one who questions their self-worth. Luckily there are things that you can do to help yourself pull through this rough time.
  • Make a list of all the things that you think you're good at.  Look at it whenever you're feeling down, and remember that there are things you do well.
  • Remember that there is no one type of body that is beautiful.  The models in magazines are often airbrushed, and of unrealistic standards that you cannot possibly live up to.  People of all different shapes and sizes are considered beautiful.
  • Being a good person counts for more than you would think.  What's on the inside counts too.  Someone who is attractive on the outside could be ugly on the inside, and that shows too. Those who treat others with respect and kindness are viewed as some of the best people.
  • Spend less time in front of the mirror, especially if they make you feel self-conscious or uncomfortable.
  • If you feel the urge to compare yourself to someone else, think of three reasons why it is ridiculous for you to think that your life will be 'better' if you were someone else.  Repeat them every time you want to compare yourself to someone else.
  • Exercise because you want to, because you like the feeling you get after you've finished a hard workout, or because you want to be healthy.  Don't exercise to be model-thin or to make up for extra calories you've eaten.
  • Participate in activities you enjoy, whether people think you're good at them or not.  Doing things that make you feel good and that you like to do can improve self-esteem. You have every right to do them.
  • Wear clothes that make you feel comfortable, be with people who bring out the best in you, and do things that make you feel good. Being around the things that you are the most comfortable with and that you enjoy the most will be beneficial to you. People notice confidence.
  • Think of five good qualities that you have, like being smart, nice, or funny.  Repeat these to yourself whenever you start to feel bad about yourself.
  • Take people seriously, and enjoy their company for who they are, not what they look like or what they can do.
  • Surround yourself with people and things that make you feel good about yourself and your capabilities.  When you are around things that make you happy, you're less likely to base how you feel about yourself on what you can and can't do well.
  • Remember: there is only one you, and the world is luckier for it.  This is your life, so enjoy it and make the most of it!
