Chicago Manual of Style is an authoratative handbook for high school and college writers. It breaks down the rules in writing.
Most schools have recognized the M.L.A. Handbook for Writers of Research Papers for decades as the authoritative style handbook for high school and college writers. It explains the accepted rules and styles for using punctuation, quotation, citing and documenting sources (including online sources), and avoiding plagiarism. Your school library should have copies available for reference, or you can buy a copy (about $17) at a bookstore or from www.mla.org. Also the Chicago Manual of Style is another authoritative handbook.
