What are Study Skills?
Study skills, shmuddy skills!  What are they and who needs them?!

You do!  You need good study skills to do well in school!  Study skills are the steps and actions of studying that help you do well in school.  These include, but are not limited to:

  • Taking notes in school
  • Organizing homework assignments
  • Creating good study habits
  • Memorizing and understanding the ideas that you learned in school
  • Preparing yourself for quizzes and tests
  • Writing papers
  • Setting goals

  • The mean grade point average (GPA) for high school graduates in 2000 was 2.94 (C+).

  • Teenagers need 9.5 hours of sleep per night to avoid sleep deprivation.

  • About 20% of all high school students fall asleep during school.

  • A good night’s sleep leads to improved memory skills
