This is an online guide from the Mankato Area Public Schools. It’s a good place to go if you want to know what is and isn’t cheating. The site also outlines what you need to do to avoid plagiarism in your school papers.
On this website you can find out more about cheating and other forms of dishonesty. You can find out more about the state of ethics in youth and in our country at large. There is also a “step-by-step guide” to making ethical decisions. A great site if you want to learn more about cheating and how to make the right decisions.
This site offers information on what plagiarism is and how you can avoid it in your own writing (go to “Research Resources”). Information is provided from recent studies on the frequency of plagiarism. Also linked to the site are turnitin.com and ithenticate.com, two sites used in detecting plagiarism in student work and in professional writing, respectively.
This is an awesome tutorial covering all things related to writing papers with outside resources. You’ll learn different styles of citing and constructing bibliographies, the pros and cons to quoting vs. paraphrasing and to paraphrasing vs. summarizing, as well as a useful system to keep your notes organized. The whole thing is done in a cool retro 50s style – even the quiz at the end!
