What is Divorce?

Your parents may have gotten divorced, but they haven't divorced you.

Divorce Is – Divorce is the legal separation of a married couple.  When two people find for some reason that they do not or cannot live together in a civil manner – they may wish to end their marriage so that both people can move on and remove themselves from the unhealthy environment.

Divorce Is Not – Divorce is not your fault.  There is nothing that anyone outside of the married couple can do or could have done to save or end a marriage.  Sometimes things just do not work out as they were originally planned.

Quick Facts
  • Almost 50% of marriages in America end in divorce, adding up to over 20 million divorced adults.

  • There are more than 3,000 children and teens a day that see their parents’ marriage end in divorce.
