This site is user friendly and very colorful, making it easy for younger teens to navigate it.  It focuses on the mental and emotional tolls that living in an alternate family can have, and their goal is to work to remedy them.  They include their history as well as where they are today, and where they are located.

This website is an excellent resource for the LGBT community.  It doesn’t mean that those who are heterosexual should not utilize it, but it relates best to those who are part of the LGBT community.  They have links to support groups and counseling as well as events they sponsor.  They also include current research being done as well as links for those who want to learn more.

This site has a section for the public, the media, and members.  The public is for those who want to browse the site and learn about alternate family while the media is about what they have done in the media and press releases they have done or will be doing.  They list all who are members, and you can become a member as well if you wish.  It’s a good place to continue research, and also contains links to helpful outside sources.

The Family Diversity Project is dedicated to educating people about the diversity that families can have, and they go around the country teaching people in schools, workplaces, colleges, etc.  Their website offers not only the places they have taught and what they speak about, but links of all varieties to other resources, from gay and lesbian parents to religious links.  It is simple to follow and easy to use—a great place to start learning about alternate families.

An Alternate Family Care Home is a private home which has been approved to provide board and lodging, personal care, supervision, and opportunities for community integration to a maximum of two individuals over the age of 18 years who have a developmental disability. Families recruited under this program partake in an extensive approval process. These homes must meet care and building standards. Homes are monitored to ensure appropriate care, safety and integration of individuals placed in these homes
