Ecstasy has an image of being something cool, a “club drug.” Going to clubs is cool. Going to raves is cool. So some people think, “If going to clubs and raves is cool, doing E must be cool too, right?” What they don't realize is that while there’s nothing wrong with going out to a club or a party, there are some things wrong with doing E while you're there.
You know what you're getting into when you go to a party. You can check it out, see who’s there and what it will be like to join in. You don't know what you're getting into when you take Ecstasy. You don't know what’s in it or what it will do to your body and mind. If a party turns out to be beat, you can leave. But once you're rollin’, it’s too late to change your mind. The drug, and whatever other drugs it was “laced” with, is in your system, and you can't undo their effects. When you roll on E, you're rolling the dice.
Hopefully these effects will just be temporary, but what if they're not? What if that one tab has effects that won't ever go away? What if, while you're rollin’, you behave and make decisions in ways that you would not have done otherwise, like to get behind the wheel of a car, or engage in unsafe or non-consensual sexual acts that you will regret later? Or what if using Ecstasy becomes a habit? Do you want to keep going to clubs or parties if the only way you have fun is by being on E?
There’s more to Ecstasy than its cool, club, drug image. Read on to find out what’s behind the buzz and flashing lights.
