Hold Onto Your Drink
A disturbing new trend is gaining momentum in the U.S…

You’re meeting up with some of your friends at a party but they are late.  You only know the host slightly, but it’s one of those come-one, come-all parties so there are plenty of other people you know to hang out with till your buddies get there.

While you wait you grab yourself a drink and start to chat with a friend you have just spotted.  You set your drink down on the table next to you while you chat, picking it up now and again for a sip.  It’s your first drink of the night but soon you notice yourself feeling a little woozy…

“You’d better slow down.” Your friend says, “It looks like you have had too much.”

“No really, I am fine.  This is my first one.”  You reply, slightly embarrassed at how much you have been effected by just a little alcohol.  “I think I just need to run to the bathroom.”

As you make your way through the crowd to the bathroom, you can feel your head growing heavier and you have some trouble walking steadily.  You can see that there are several people waiting for the bathroom so you take a minute, leaning against the wall and close your eyes…

When you wake up you find yourself on the floor of an unfamiliar room, with no memories but a horrible feeling that something has happened…

Do you know how to protect yourself from “date rape drugs” such as Rohypnol and GHB?

“Sarah called me and said to come to the bathroom because a guy had put something in Lauren’s drink. When I opened the door, Lauren was foaming at the mouth and had thrown up several times. We called 911 and I carried her to the ambulance. She had her stomach pumped and got an IV at the hospital. It was the scariest thing I have ever seen.”
