OxyContin and Prescription Painkillers
Doctors wouldn’t be prescribing something that dangerous, would they?  What’s the harm in grabbing a few painkillers out of my mom’s medicine cabinet when I need to relax?

There’s a reason that some drugs are given out by prescription only- you know this!  Most drugs given out by prescription carry very serious health risks - that’s why they need to be taken only under a doctor’s guidance.

The big drug out there right now that you’ve probably heard of is OxyContin or “Hillbilly Heroin.”  Of all the new drug trends out there, many people find this one the scariest.  People are taking it because it’s cheap... but it isn’t called hillbilly HEROIN for nothing! Its similarity to high-grade heroin is scary!

The drug is so addictive that even people taking OxyContin prescribed by a doctor have to go off it slowly, under the supervision of a doctor, to avoid serious withdrawal.  Those who abuse OxyContin usually take way more than the prescribed amounts. This causes them to become dependant on the drug much quicker.

The hold that OxyContin creates over people can be so strong that it drives them to do things they normally wouldn’t.  This is where that rash of pharmacy break-ins a while back came from.  OxyContin will consume your life.  Now that bigger restrictions are put on OxyContin, it’s not quite so easy and cheap to get.  Once hooked, tons of people are starting to seek out real heroin as an alternative.

Bottom line, trying OxyContin is just stupid.  If you are feeling like you need a release or something to dull the pain, think hard about what path you want to start down. Do you want to take the path to addiction and risking your health, or the path to finding support and solving your problems for good?

Nobody’s perfect, but people can choose to make good decisions. Find a healthy release WARM2Kids is here to help.
