Crystal meth, speed, ice, crank, however you refer to it, is a modern day slave master! Probably none of your friends will tell you that. They will talk about the “high”, the “rush” or how cool it is to feel that powerful sense of awareness and excitement that snorting, injecting, or swallowing the drug can give. Your friends will probably forget to tell you that you’ll pay a really high price for the trip.
You will have to give up total control of your body and brain. Know why? Because that innocent looking, bitter tasting, odorless white powder takes over; it causes you to get violent, to have rages and other kinds of out-of-control behavior which you’d never have if you were doing the controlling yourself. You’ll also feel totally tired, frighteningly anxious, and have all kinds of scary hallucinations. You can be in the power of this dangerous drug 6-8 hours after using it. To add even more misery to your life, chances are you’ll become addicted to the stuff and have a need to use it more and more.
Look at it this way – somebody talks you into taking a wild whitewater rafting trip or buying a ticket on the highest, most challenging roller coaster ride. Daring and exciting as those two trips might be, would you take them if you knew in advance the boat had a bad leak or the roller coaster had a few important bolts missing? No matter how brave or skillful you are on the boat, chances are you’d wind up in the water. That’s because you would not be in control of the situation. Same thing is true with the mechanically damaged coaster ride. Everybody knows that crystal meth can take you on a dangerous trip. In the beginning it looks and feels good, but the question remains – is the short trip down drug road really worth a long time loss of being in control of your life?
