Birth Control

There are ways you can protect yourself.

You can remain a virgin having no sex at all with anyone. That’s called abstinence; it carries with it a 100% guarantee you won’t become pregnant. Abstinence also protects you from getting any of the many sexually spread diseases like gonorrhea or chlamydia.

FOR MALES who are now sexually active, or plan to be, CONDOMS are the best protection against getting a partner pregnant or of you or she getting a STD, a sexually transmitted or spread disease. Condoms are good protection as long as:

  • You use the right kind
  • You follow the directions for using it right
    • Just like certain material from which clothing or curtains are made can either burn up easily or be fire-resistant, the protective strength of condoms depends upon the material from which they are made. Studies show that condoms made of latex are the safest. Condoms made from polyurethane or natural fiber have tiny pores. STD’s like the HIV virus can get through these pores. If you use condoms or are planning to use them, check the store where you buy them or on the box to make sure they are made of LATEX.

All condoms will not protect you when…
    • They aren’t put on correctly
    • They are kept too long and used after the date of expiration
    • They are kept in a glove compartment or wallet
      • IF YOU ARE FEMALE, another way to have safer sex is to use BIRTH CONTROL PILLS, BUT…remember, birth control pills only give you what the name promises – controlling or stopping you from getting pregnant. The truth is, far too often they don’t even do that!  Many girls who are on the pill still find themselves pregnant, and birth control pills give absolutely no protection against STD’s.

Think carefully about the terrible risks of having unprotected sex even once.  Choose to be better safe than sorry. If you are going to be sexually active, make certain the partner who tells you how much he/she loves and respects you PROVES that love and respect by never having unprotected sex with you.
