How To Stay Alert Without Overusing Caffeine
Because caffeine is addictive, many of you who use it everyday will find it difficult to wind down your usage. Quitting or cutting way back on caffeine is well worth it, however. Here are some ways to make cutting back an easier process for you.
Many teenagers have two or three cups of coffee per day, along with ice cream and soda and other caffeine products. Caffeine is America’s most popular drug. 90% of Americans consume some form of caffeine everyday, and half of them consume more than 300 milligrams per day. This said, it is understandable if you consume caffeine everyday. It isn’t necessary to quit using caffeine entirely, but overuse is a big problem with numerous long term and short-term effects, so cutting down to a healthy amount may be a good idea.

Best Ways To Cut Down

  • Sprite, 7UP, Sierra Mist, Root Beer or Ginger Ale instead of other sodas
  • Decaf Coffee (it tastes the same!)
  • Tea or hot cocoa instead of coffee

Cutting down on your caffeine intake is a simple process, and when you look at the effects, and your usage, there is no good reason not to. If you’re not an over-user, all this should help you stay that way, and if you are, this should help you cut back. Here is a chart of caffeine content within different foods and drinks. Take a look at the chart, and figure out just how much caffeine you have in an average day. If you think it’s over 200 mgs per day, it would probably be a good idea to cut back, and even if your intake is less than 200 mgs per day, why not cut back just a little bit?
