Organ and Blood Donations: It Could Save Your Life!

Donating organs or blood is not a way of life for many people. No one requires it, and the services they provide rely on human kindness and goodwill. Organ and blood donations can be the difference between living and dying for some people. If you think there’s no reason to donate, think about that day when even you may need an organ or blood to survive. Get all the information before making your decision whether to donate or not.

How does this subject relate to you? Well, it’s important to think about issues that face everyone, and donating blood or an organ concerns everyone.  You never know when you might need an organ or a blood transfusion after a serious accident or attack.  Everyone should be concerned with this issue. There are a number of charitable causes and campaigns that are not relevant to the everyday person. These charities sometimes struggle, because they cannot relate you directly to their cause. While that is a misfortune, it is not the case with organ and blood donations.

This is a medical issue; an issue that comes up everyday. There are car accidents, fires, and other mishaps each day in this country, and there is always someone who needs blood or an organ. What if that is you one day? Knowing this, it is a good idea to educate yourself as to what a blood or organ donation entails? Donating blood doesn’t mean going somewhere once a week to have your blood drawn. What it means is that when an opportunity presents itself, such as when the Red Cross comes to your school, camp, into your town, or work that you contribute. If you do not come across a blood drive or request for organ donations, making the effort to get to a donating center is well worth it.

Massachusetts is struggling to find enough blood, and is currently on the bottom of the pack with respect to state donations.  Choosing to donate blood and organs is a generous act that could save lives.  It is a common day issue that relates to you, me, and to our families and friends.  Some day you may need blood or an organ to survive.  It’s really that simple. If that day never comes, you can leave knowing that you have probably helped save the life or at least made the life a little easier for someone else.
