What causes the allergic reaction is often obvious, but sometimes an allergy appears to be some other condition, like a cold. People can have allergic reactions to a lots of things. Allergies range from mild to severe depending on the person. You might experience one allergy, while someone else is sensitive to a few things. Symptoms will also differ depending on the substance one is reacting to.

Symptoms of airborne allergies
Sneezing
Itchy nose/throat
Nasal congestion
Coughing
Impaired smell
When these symptoms are occur with itchy, watery, red eyes, it is known as allergic conjunctivitis. Dark circles surrounding red eyes are called allergic shiners. Wheezing and/or shortness of breath along with the above mentioned symptoms could lead to asthma if that is not already present.
Symptoms of food allergies
Itchy mouth/throat when you eat the food that contains the ingredient to which you are allergic. This is known as oral allergy syndrome.
Rash
Cramping
Nausea
Vomiting or diarrhea (body’s attempt to flush out irritant)
Hives
Itchy/runny nose
Difficulty breathing/swallowing
Earaches/ear itching, popping or congestion
Anaphylactic Shock (if the reaction to the allergen is severe, a person can develop this life-threatening condition
Typical Symptoms of anaphylaxis
- Hives
- Swelling of throat, lips, tongue, eye area
- Difficulty breathing/swallowing
Other common symptoms of anaphylaxis
- Taste of metal or itching in mouth
- Flushing/itching/redness of the skin
- Wheezing
- Gastrointestinal complications (abdominal/ uterus cramps, nausea, vomiting or diarrhea)
- Increased heart rate
- Decrease in blood pressure
- Paleness
- Sudden weakness
- Anxiety
- Collapse or loss of consciousness
