Therapy for the Body
Everyone experiences pain at some time in one’s life. Whether from an injury, health condition, or illness, the pain can sometimes be too much to tolerate. Since you are the best judge of your pain, it’s up to you to know when the pain or condition is severe enough to seek advice from a medical professional. Your physician can refer you to a specialist if he or she thinks rehabilitation is necessary will be a good method of treatment for you.

Physical therapy can be helpful in treating all areas of the body. They are skilled in proper rehabilitation. A physical therapist evaluates an injury, disease, or disability caused by a health condition or accident. After observing your movement, learning of your medical history, and hearing about any pain you’re experiencing due to the ailment, the PT will then discuss possible treatments with you, your parent/guardian, and family doctor.

For the next several weeks, months or even years, you will work closely with various health professionals to get back to a healthy state. You will learn proper techniques to perform daily tasks, stretch, exercise or play sports. During the recovery phase you will be working on flexibility, strength, etc both at home and with your PT. The basics of physical therapy can involve physical (exercise, heat/ice), mechanical (electrical current), and educational (instruction on how to do the exercises, why and how the exercises will help you recover, and support during the healing process) elements.

In order for you to have the best experience while you are going to a physical therapist, you should make sure the environment is one that you are comfortable in. Your goal during physical therapy should be to learn how to deal with and reduce pain, learn your limitations and how to perform daily activities properly so that you can prevent further injury. A healthy body is a happy body.
