Yeast: Not Just For Baking
It's normal for a woman's body to produce yeast, but just like in baking, too much yeast can be a bad thing.

You know you need yeast in order to make bread rise and taste delicious, but did you also know that your body produces yeast?  A woman's body produces yeast in warm, moist places so it's normal to have these bacteria in your body.  But sometimes, for various reasons, we overproduce this yeast. This can lead to an infection in the most unpleasant places.

While a vaginal yeast infection isn't deadly or dangerous, it's still annoying and sometimes smelly.  The white, gooey discharge stains your underwear, the itching gets on your nerves, and you don't want to pee because it burns when you do!

Luckily, a yeast infection can be cured in less than a week with symptoms going away in a few days.  You can buy treatment products over the counter once you have the diagnosis from your doctor (you don't want to treat something you don't actually have).  Be sure to have a doctor tell confirm that you have a yeast infection. But not to worry - not only is it easy to cure, it isn’t sexually transmitted.

So don't worry if you've got too much yeast and not enough bread dough.  You can clear that up in a few days, and with a few precautionary tips, you can do your best to prevent another one from happening any time soon.
