Be Prepared to Defend Yourself
It’s not a pleasant subject, but it’s important to really think about what you would do if you were attacked.  Would you know how to handle yourself?  How to be smart?  Having the information about different self-defense options, and the dangers that are out there is only half of the job. In order to be fully prepared, you have to take action.

Becoming fully prepared for an attack and knowing how to protect yourself is basic to staying safe. Carrying pepper spray or mace can be a good start, but often they aren’t practical.  Maybe an attacker grabs your purse, and you can’t get to the mace or pepper spray. Then what? Well, at this point you’re left to your own personal skills.  To become fully prepared for an attacker, it is a good idea to take a self-defense course or a particular martial art. Karate is the most popular martial art out there, but there are many others.  The good thing about taking a martial art is that there is a spirit of competition in it. In addition, there are many aspects to the sport besides self-defense.  Martial arts can be fun, and provide you with good exercise as well.

Realistically you can never be fully prepared for attackers, as they usually attack without warning. When they have a weapon, it is generally a good idea to do what they say. If you feel your life is in danger, and you have a chance to defend yourself, it’s extremely important to know what to do. The best way to do that is to be prepared.

Top 10 Reasons to Learn Self Defense
www.senseibryan.com

1. Because living in fear is no way to live.
2. Because relying on the “Good Guys” to protect you from the “Bad Guys” is a fundamentally flawed strategy.
3. Because being able to protect yourself is extremely important.
4. Because violence happens. 1 out of 8 women and 1 out of 3 men will be assaulted in their lifetime. A violent crime occurs every 21 seconds. Every 15 seconds a woman is battered. In the time it takes to read this page, more women have been assaulted. Your chances of becoming a victim of crime or attack are greater than your chances of attaining the perfect physique.
5. Because even our best efforts at doing everything possible to avoid dangerous situations, we still may be confronted by a huge man with a gun or knife.
6. Because contrary to popular myth, you cannot learn self-defense from the movies.
7. Because you would be full of guilt if you passed on feelings of helplessness to your children. Anxiety is passed down, often unconsciously, and YOU are the medium! Fear makes us a magnet to predators; the more fear you/your children harbor, the more risk you/they become. When you empower yourself, you empower your kids. (this one applies to your parents)
8. Because learning to defend yourself just plain feels good.
9. Because being defenseless is a lot scarier.
10. Because criminals and predators are a step ahead.
