What is Money Management?

Anyone, who manages money well, will have the money that he or she needs, whether it is for an emergency or just a sense of security.

Money management is the art of earning money, keeping money and knowing how to use money.  This includes saving, budgeting, filing/organizing, taking out loans,  and having credit.

Managing money is an important skill at any age.  Learning when to spend and when to save, as young as possible, can even help you retire early.  Normally, thinking that far ahead is out of the question when you really want to buy something.  But, it is a great feeling when you save up money for something truly special.

Managing your money well is a win-win situation because...

  • You will have money when you need it.
  • If you show that you are responsible with money you will get more privileges.
Quick Facts
  • 31 million teens between the ages of 13 and 19 spend 158 billion dollars a year. That’s about five thousand dollars per teenager.

  • 50% to 70% of the money teens spend comes from parents, so thank them!
