PDA – Public Displays of Affection
So what is PDA? The term is kinda ambiguous – what is a “public display of affection”? Does it include stuff like hugging your parents? Or patting your friend on the back?
Although technically lots of “in public” actions are aimed at showing affection, they aren’t all exactly PDA. When we think of PDA we tend to think of the really over-the-top disgusting-to-watch displays, not the little things like hugging or patting. PDA is also something that you see between couples, not between friends, parents, or kids.
Quick Facts
  • Many schools have rules against any kind of PDA – even holding hands!

  • At school dances, teachers used to come around and make sure you were a certain distance apart from your partner
