You’ve spent at least 12 years of your life going from class to class, writing papers, reading books, doing math problems, reading about the Continental Congress or the Louisiana Purchase. Now all of a sudden here you are, diploma in hand, and you need to get a job.
Everyone’s life is different. You will have to deal with some things that others won’t. Maybe you already have tons of work experience or maybe you’ve got none. Perhaps you’re living at home or moving out to a place of your own. It’s possible that you are working to support only yourself or maybe you have others that you need to provide for. The challenges may seem endless, especially at the beginning when you are searching to find that first job, but the one piece of advice that applies to everyone is – Don’t Give Up Hope, Keep on Trying!
There is a job out there for you. It’s true that in the beginning, working full time can seem miserable. The days are often longer than school days, sometimes you have to work weekends, all your friends aren’t around to hang out with on breaks and maybe the work itself isn’t your cup of tea. It’s hard to get a job you love on your very first try, (Bravo for those who managed it!) but that doesn’t mean you’ll never find one. The first few years that you work are a good time to look around you and look INSIDE you in order to discover the path that’s right for you.
