The New Kid in Town
Moving…almost everyone does it at some point during their life but that sure doesn’t make it any easier.

Moving to a new place is always tough.  You don’t know anyone and they don’t know you.  You’re in an unfamiliar place which will take time to get used to.  You’re going to be stressed out and nervous- it’s perfectly natural.

If you’re facing a move what you’ve really got to remember is that you are never going to be alone.  Your family is going through the same things with you.  Your parents may look tough but deep down inside they are probably worried about making the right impressions, meeting new people and leaving all that they know behind as well.  Your old friends will always be there for you.  You all may not be in the same place anymore, but with e-mail, phone calls and, of course, visits you don’t ever have to lose track of each other.  Whenever you start to feel lonely and isolated, turn to these people and remind yourself that you will never really be alone.

Don’t let the nervousness that you feel freeze you up.  The best way to get to know your new town and new peers is to jump right in.  Join the activities that you have always enjoyed even if you don’t know any of the people.  Don’t forget who you are.  Be yourself and let your personality shine.  Don’t try to change just because you think it will help you fit in- there are plenty of people out there who are going to like you for your unique self.

Moving is scary, but it should also be exciting.  You’re expanding your experiences and who knows, maybe, just maybe, you’ll discover some new friends, interests or places that you never would have known about before!
